Bruce is not originally from Middle Georgia, but he finds it a friendly place for economic growth. Originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan, furniture has been in his blood for three generations. He has been working in or owning a Steelcase dealership for over 30+ years. He graduated from Hillsdale College in Michigan with a degree in Political Economy. His experience in the industry benefits each and every client. He and his wife, Sarah, have three sons. Kirk and Josh are in college and Joseph is in high school. Bruce is a member of The Rotary Club of Warner Robins. In his spare time, Bruce enjoys golfing and landscaping.
Marie is originally from Soperton, GA, a small town about halfway between Macon and Savannah. She attended the American College for the Applied Arts in Atlanta, graduating magna cum laude in 1997 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design degree. Marie moved to Macon in 1996 when she went to work as a commercial interior designer for Ivan Allen Company. She has been a part of the Commercial Furnishings team since it opened in September of 2002. Marie and her husband, Josh, have two young sons: Stephen (9) and Harrison (6). Marie is actively involved as a parent volunteer at St. Joseph’s Catholic School and serves on the School Board. She is a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she serves as a lector and a children's liturgy leader. She also serves on the board of Family Advancement Ministries, a local non-profit organization with the goal of moving families toward independence and self-sufficiency. In her spare time, Marie enjoys running, shopping, traveling and camping with her son’s Cub Scout pack.
Detchon, originally from Asheville North Carolina, is the newest member of the Commercial Furnishings team. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design from Meredith College, Raleigh, North Carolina. Detchon spends most of her free time volunteering with local youth programs including Campus Clubs and First Presbyterian Church Youth Group.
Michelle Garlington is a native Georgian and back in the state after a five year stint in Knoxville, Tennessee. She joins Commercial Furnishings with a strong background in commercial interiors, having served most recently as Interior Design Team Leader for BarberMcMurry architects in Knoxville. While well-versed in corporate and healthcare environments, Michelle especially enjoys working with educators and administrators on higher education campuses to create “Active Learning Environments.” Michelle holds interior and environmental design degrees from the University of Georgia, is a LEED Accredited Professional, and attained her NCIDQ Certificate in May 2010. Michelle is passionate about historic preservation and the revitalization of Downtown Macon and its InTown Neighborhoods. Michelle is actively involved with the Historic Macon Foundation, as her husband, Ethiel, serves as Executive Director of the organization; together they are currently restoring a 1920’s Craftsman Duplex in the Beall’s Hill Neighborhood.
John is originally from Hawkinsville, GA—about 45 miles south of Macon. He attended and graduated from the University of Georgia in Athens with a degree in finance. After graduation, he moved to Atlanta, where he spent 26 years with several companies in accounting and finance. In 2011, he returned to his hometown to be with family.
Blake is the service technician and installation expert here at Commercial Furnishings. He has six years of experience in commercial and modern office furniture. He lives in Macon, GA and attended Georgia Military College of Milledgeville. He is a Tennessee Vols fan! GO BIG ORANGE!!
Sam is in charge of the warehouse and assists with installations at Commercial Furnishings. He has four years of experience in the office furniture industry. He lives in Macon, GA and is a member of Joshua 1:89 Masonic Lodge.
Born and raised here in Macon, Georgia, Blake graduated from Windsor Academy and spent a period of enrollment at MCSU. He has years of experience in the service industry, but he has recently started with this company and line of work. Blake is proud to be on this team and looks forward to learning valuable skills.
